A package from SF - Timbuk2 Day at the::unwired HQ
Posted by Arne Hess - at 20:28 CET under Digital - Lifestyle
Some friends say I would/could be the better woman with my mania for bags and
indeed - beside addicted to electronic gadgets I'm also addicted to bags. I
think everything started back in the school days when I've started with
backpacks. Today, I'm rarely use backpacks but prefer bags - to be more precise
messenger kind of bags and my favorite companies are
Chrome and
Timbuk2 (both from San
Francisco - most likely the home of messenger bags) not to say that I collect
bags as women collect shoes. ;)
But I'm not alone, thankfully also my girlfriend likes Timbuk2 as much as I do
and therefore last week we've ordered some items from their great online shop
which arrived today:

On the photo above from left back to right to left front:
Well, in case you think know that most items above are for me you are
correct. But - my girlfriend has more Timbuk2 bags than me already - therefore
it was time for me to catch up! ;)

NewsGator is Beta testing a new AJAX-enabled Web version
Posted by Arne Hess - at 20:07 CET under Digital - Lifestyle
I'm a big fan of NewsGator since I've purchased a license of NewsGator for Outlook back in 2004 and since then, NewsGator became even better by providing
web and mobile interfaces as well as dedicated mobile device applications.
Now, NewsGator is publicly Beta testing its new AJAX based web version which
looks sweet:

So if you have a NewsGator account, you might want to test it as well. Check
out NewsGator's Beta page.

Another Starbucks - Same Procedure
Posted by Arne Hess - at 18:03 CET under Digital - Lifestyle
That I'm a big big Starbucks fan, you should/could know latest
since this posting I made
from Seattle last month. Well, this time it's Starbucks Munich but the same
procedure - my beloved WiFi UMTS connected Tablet/Notebook PC is with me and I'm
enjoying a Caramel Macchiato:

Was a damn lousy day, so a Carmel Macchiato might give me the smile back.

Doesn't have Business Users a need for Entertainment too?
Posted by Arne Hess - at 13:45 CET under Digital - Lifestyle
If you compare the Windows Vista versions (best before you upgrade/buy one), it shouldn't be a surprise at all but I'm still wondering why Microsoft left the inbuilt DVD codec support out of Windows Vista Business as it is part of Windows Vista Home Premium and Windows Vista Ultimate? And it keeps me to the questions if Microsoft really believes that business users doesn't have a need for entertainment?

I mean how many normal users watch DVDs on their PC or Notebook? Not too much
I would think but the real PC DVD-watcher are mostly business travelers, bored
in hotel rooms or during flights and this customers cannot watch DVDs without
any further codec installation (which you better know before you leave) and they
even cannot watch Media Center recordings, they might have copied to the
Notebook prior departure because Microsoft's propriety Media Center codec is
also not supported in Windows Vista Business. Oh come on Microsoft, the world
isn't that black and white that a business users (which I would call myself as
well) hasn't have needs for entertainment but is wrestling his Excel
spreadsheets 24/7. No, it happens even more often than you might think that
business users have "kill time" where they want some entertainment.

Enjoying the Free Windows Vista W-LAN Promotion from T-Mobile
Posted by Arne Hess - at 20:49 CET under Digital - Lifestyle
Well, if it rains in Seattle, what else somebody can do than having a cup of coffee at
Starbucks? At least that's what I'm currently doing, enjoying my favorite
Caramel Macchiato in my favorite Starbucks on Pine Street (the one with the
fireplace):

But thanks to the Microsoft/T-Mobile Windows Vista promotion, I'm also
enjoying the free wireless Internet, served by a T-Mobile HotSpot:

So indeed, it worked - I've just created a new T-Mobile HotSpot account and
was able to immediate login to T-Mobile, free of charge.
